Wild Western Cowboy Party Games

# Wagons and horses Wheel barrow race
# Escape from Jail Divide the kids into 2 teams of bandits, each with a sheriff. The sheriff has to catch a member of the opposite team by touching them. They are then considered to be in jail and must stand still. Their team mates can rescue them by crawling though their legs but if they are caught doing so, they are also have to stand still and are in jail. First team to catch all the other bandits is the winner.
# Horseshoe toss Set up some plastic bottles filled with sand. The kids have to see if they can toss the horseshoe over the bottles. If you don’t have any horseshoes, just use rubber dog rings.
# Water gun shoot out See how many plastic cowboys they can knock down using water pistols
# Bandit hunt Hide some plastic cowboys around the yard or the house. See who can find the most.
# Boot Toss The children need to try and toss the bean bags into some big Wellington boots or a large cowboy hat.
# Panning for gold/nuggets Spray paint small bits of gravel in gold and bury in the sand box. Add water. Give each child a disposable aluminum pie tin with holes punctured in the bottom. Let them sieve the sand/water and see who can find the gold nuggets.
# Gold Rush Hide chocolate money around the yard or house and send the kids on a gold rush to see who can find the most coins.
# Rattlesnake rumpus Make a rattlesnake out of a long sock stuffed with a rattle at the end and then padded out with newspaper. Sit the cowboys/girls in a circle and put on some music. Whilst the music is playing, they have to pass round the rattlesnake but once the music stops, the person left holding the snake is said to have been bitten and sits out of the game.

Purse Invitations – Purse Birthday Cards

You can use this purse pattern to print adorable little purse cards to use for invitations or birthday cards.
pursetemplate1pursetemplate2Just right-click on each one and click “save picture” to get it onto your computer.  Then, in you word processing program or your graphic design program, open the picture file onto a page and print it out on card stock.  Cut it out and use it as a traceable pattern on patterned paper.  Wouldn’t this be perfect for a little girl’s diva party?  I wonder if I can make a little paper poodle to put inside?

Spa Makeover Birthday Parties – Manicure Parties

Is your teen or tween wanting a manicure spa makeover party? Before you start inviting people, you might want to learn a little more about manicures. These tips come straight from my manicurist.

Manicure Party Tips

• Massage olive oil into your cuticles instead of cuticle oil. Olive oil has the same molecular shape & size as human sebum, so it truly hydrates & protects your skin

• Combine one part honey and two parts sugar for a great at-home exfoliating foot scrub. it works best if your skin is moist and hydrated, so apply it after a foot soak

• If you mess up while polishing, don’t sweat it. Allow the nails (mess up and all) to dry and then use a qtip with polish remover to go over it. Make sure that the remover doesn’t drip onto the polished surface, either keep it fairly dry or turn the fingers (or toes0 to the side, so that the drip drips in the opposite direction.

• Avoid overtrimming the toenails, the ideas shape is flat at the tip (not rounded) and extends almost to the tip of the toe. Trimming them too short can encourage overgrowth and lead to infection from an ingrown toenail.

• Here in California, professional manicurists must soak metal instruments in rubbing alcohol for at least ten minutes in order to prevent the spread of nail fungus. Other states mandate different soak times, and some states mandate that they be sterilized with heat, in an autoclave oven. For home parties, just get each girl their own take-home manicure kit, I’ve seen them at dollar stores.

• Finally, always use a base coat when painting your nails, this protects your nail beds and prevents it from being stained. It also creates a nice even surface for polish to adhere to.
